What the Internet says about Bob Frey of Baltimore, Maryland:
I used to own one very similar to this cue. Frey cues play sweet.
Bob Frey – Traditional 5 Veneer
I ended up taking this in on trade from a friend. I spoke to Bob and he thinks this may be a very early one from the time he split from Tim.
I couldn’t pick it up in the pictures but the veneers are Natural – Natural – Blue – Blue – Black. One original shaft one unknown. Delrin butt cap.
I will probably revisit selling it but I am enjoying it for now.

Nice….looks a lot like an old Timmy.
Bob Frey Cues – 08-22-2014, 04:05 PM
Here’s 4 Beauties. Bob Frey is the most under rated Cue maker on the planet.
He cannot be out built. You know. What you can’t see. Starting with Joss then building with Tim Scruggs as his partner and his own Cues lastly.
40 years of solid.
2 2 shafts
My next Frey Custom ordered is another ebony front veneer Cue. It will have the Ivory Joint Radial Pin! Maybe Summer.
Bob Frey is great to work with. As are his Cues in your hands. Put one in your hand and see. Not a sneaky. A Custom. Big difference.

Just thought I’d start a thread on Frey, as a lot of his SP’s are made available on the board. Does anyone have any experience with his more fancy cues?
I have a pretty standard ebony SP, with 2 shafts one with a sniper tip, the other with the triangle tip. I haven’t hit with the shaft with triangle tip. I really like the balance of the cue. It seems to be pretty well balanced, from the shaft to butt – the weight isn’t too much in the rear as some would think with a dense wood like ebony in the butt. The shaft hits really nice, and I love the feel of the hit. I like the wood to wood joint. Have no problems with the shaft loosening up during play
Thread: Best Sneaky Pete?
Has everybody forgotten about Tim Scruggs? I know he doesn’t make S/P’s any more, but you can still find them on e-bay. Also, Bob Frey makes S/P’s like Scruggs.
This cue (bottom cue in photos) was made around 1999 by Robert Frey, who worked with Tim Scruggs for many years. Though retired, he still makes a few cues a year, mostly special order. This cue is in excellent condition, almost perfectly straight, and hits very well.

Hey y’all I have an older Bob Frey sneaky pete for sale. This cue is a great player. Real solid hit and lively feedback. It definitely has some battle scars, dents and dings but this is one of the best playing sneaky pete’s I’ve ever owned. It’s a true players cue with the perfect amount of patina in all the right places. The new owner will be very pleased with the way this cue plays. I have been very satisfied with it but life has kicked my ass over the past few months and have to sell.

Great Cue. No one can out build Bob Frey. They might be able to do things to a cue he is unable to. But he can’t be out built.
